That would be skin cancer. There are 2 kinds in various stages. Basal cell or Squamous cell. Those are the 2 likely cancers and the reason for the graft depends on the stage.


I might add these skin cancers are not life threatening.


Another skin cancer is Melanoma but not usually on the scalp. For that treatment they do what is called MOHS which is extensive, as Melanoma is life threatening.
