what is it from and what can I do?
My skin got really dry and scabby under my ring.?
you could be allergic to the metal. most of the time, there isn't a lot you can do:
1. dont wear that ring anymore. if you want to wear it fine, but not over long periods of time.
2. wash the area with hot water, then put lotion on it. what surprising works very well is cap stick or vasaline. these are for chapped (aka DRY) lips, and works well on the dry scabby-ness of the area. haha i am a genius yes?? lols just playinn
but this is isnt only caused by an allergic reaction. a lot of people get it when they wear "fake" metals. ever known people who can only where solid gold earings?? it's because they have sensitive ears, and their ears regognize the gold as more pure than the earings you find at pac sun. same principle here. if that ring happened to be from Icing, or Claire's, or After Thoughts.....there's your problem. it's not sterling silver....its nickle. thats why after a certain amount of where it looses its "silver" color and turns to a pink-ish copper. many fingers have reaction to metals from cheapy-places like that.
well, i may not be an expert, but i hope i helped some!!

You have an allergy to whatever the metal is.
Reply:ew...put some lotion
Reply:I get this all the time under my engagement ring. It could be that the gold or whatever metal it is, is not a good metal and you have a slight allergy to it or you are hypoallergenic. It could also just be from sweat and water build up under it. I have it permanently and though it's ugly and sometimes itchy, my doctor said its nothing serious. You may talk to your doctor about an ointment called Diprolene. It just takes away the rash. Good luck
Reply:take the ring off then wash your hands then dry them then put vaseline on it and leave it on and if it doesnt go away then put more vaseline the next day
Reply:i get that aswell. if u r always wearing the ring this is more likely to happen, unless u take it off, moisturise the area everyday..i find it helps. thats if its not an allergy..u might be allergic to whatever metal it is..
Reply:Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.
In a more serious skin diseases, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.
Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.
