Young dog has fluid-filled pocket under her skin?

My dog is 11 months old. She's spayed, healthy, and playful. Yesterday, I noticed a lump on her back. When I touched it, it was like touching a water bed. Just a large pocket of fluid behind her right shoulder and extending across her back.

It doesn't hurt her at all, and she's fine. Her appetite is good. The area is larger today. I scheduled her to see the Vet on Thursday, I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what this could be.

thanks

My dog had something like this on his upper shoulder. He was maybe 2 at the time and I was afraid he had cancer and I'd have to put him down.

The vet diagnosed it as a cyst and although he had to undergo a surgical procedure and anestheia (sp), he has been fine for several years with no ill effects. Your dog sounds like it has a similar condition.

You're vet will likely test the spot and hopefully come up with a similar diagnosis. Good luck!

I have no idea... Good thing you're taking her to a vet so you can find out. Sounds strange to me.
Reply:Has she recently had a shot? Sometimes it will leave a little fluid filled bump from the vaccine and if that is the case, there is no worry.
