What are the small moveable lumps under my skin? I have several in various places.?

I am forty something and i'm curious. One is on my shin, one by my knee, once on my outside elbow. Any one else get them?

It doesnt sound like they are anything to worry about. If they are bothersome, such as the ones on the joints, see a doctor. If they are large I would check them out also. My daughter had a lump in her neck that was higher than the usual glands that swell sometimes when your sick, so we just were told to keep an eye on it and they ran blood tests, but nothing came from it. I would worry about lumps in your neck, underarms and groin area only. I think others are caused by minor fat deposits or something. The human body can be strange sometimes.

Reply:POSSIBLY CYSTS, U SHOULD MAYBE HAVE THEM CHECKED BY A DOCTOR. IT DEPENDS ON IF THEY HAVE GROWN IN SIZE.
Reply:they sound like cysts. Mostly they are benign, but i'd still get them checked out just to be safe.

Reply:I have neurofibromatosis, a condition of tumors of the nerves. I don't mean to scare you but they could be tumors or cysts. I recommend going to a physician who may in turn recommend you see a neurosurgeon. It is likely these are benign. Being 40 and not having problems caused by these earlier in life, I don't think it is cause for much concern. These types of tumors are generally left alone unless they cause pain or other complications. Good Luck to you.
