it's called cradle cap... Don't use lotion (it makes it worst) just use baby oil... Rub baby oil on his/her scalp everytime u give him/her a bath and that would help the cradle cap (dry skin)...
What can I do for my baby's dry skin on his head under his hair? This is the only place he has dry skin.?
Just put lotion on it.

use lotion and a soft soap
Reply:it souns like craddle cap! I would try reg. baby lotion and if that does nto wrk then I would go to any sotre and get the products for craddle cap.
Reply:Use a little bit of baby oil at bed time let it soak overnight and then wash it out in the morning.
Reply:1) Make sure it's not cradle cap-- Check w/ the doctor. If it is cradle cap, the doctor will instruct you on how to care for it.
2) Use vaseline on baby's scalp.
3) Make sure you are not washing the baby's hair too much.
Reply:Lotion or baby oil. Some may say baby oil is no good, but if you asked your doctor they'd say the same. (Unless of course there is an allergic reaction.)
.
Reply:It sounds like cradle cap, in which case he will grow out of. Just gently wash it every time he takes a bath, and eventually it will go away. If it IS dry skin, just apply baby lotion on it.
Reply:We were told to use olive oil.
Reply:It's called cradle cap. There's a product that you can buy to treat it. Go to Target or Walmart or some similar store. Look on the aisle where they have the baby shampoos and lotions. I don't remember the brand name, but the product I used for my daughter was a lavendar and greenish color bottle. I only used it one time, and the cradle cap was gone for good.
Reply:He may have cradle cap. All you need to do is put some lotion on his head and be careful to make sure that the shampoo and suds are completely out of his hair when you go to dry him off and to not wash his head too much. If lotion doesn't help, use some vaseline, which is really good for dry, cracked skin. If these don't do the trick, take him to the doctor and the doctor will be able to better help you. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Reply:when my kids had t his i put baby oil till it was cleared up
Reply:mine had the same problem. Rub regular baby oil on their head twice a day, and make sure home humidity is at least 50%
Reply:It sounds like he has cradle cap. Don't wash is hair too much little twice a week you need to keep his head out of water for a while. After his bath every day put some baby oil on his head that will help keep it mosit and protect the skin. It should come good in a couple of weeks, but what ever you do not pull off the loss skin let it come off it self. good luck
Reply:try baby oil
Reply:Olive oil is best.
And don't bath him everyday, and if you must bath him every day don't shampoo his hair. Once a week is plenty to wash a babies hair.
Reply:Do not use baby oil, it will make it drier. Use almond oil or Shea nut butter.
Reply:You could dab a little baby oil to the dry area.
Reply:dont use soap or shampoo or lotions they all have drying effects!!! Gently massage baby oil into the hair its the cheapest way to go and your baby will love the head massage. Just warm water on a wash cloth will remove it the oil.
Reply:I would probably put baby oil on it but if that did not work after a while this would be my last resort and probably not best for young infants but try something like neospourn maybe that will clear it up because thats what my dad did with my sister and it cleared right up but be sure to only put it on when you can see the baby so they dont eat it by mistake just probably put some on before naps and watch the baby.
Reply:My daughter had this problem and it started to spread to behind her ears. Her doctor said it was cradle cap. She recommended using Cortaid with 1% Hydrocortizone. Rub it into your babys scalp then take a toothbrush and gently scrape it off. His scalp will probably turn red from this but it shouldnt hurt him. I only had to do this a couple of times then it went away. It is good that you caught this before it started to spread because it will if it is not treated and spread to his face which will really irritate him. Baby oil is good to use also.
Reply:My son has the same thing. It's not cradle cap but dry skin. My doctor told me to rub some baby oil in about 3 times a week in the evening. Then in the morning to use a LITTLE DAB of Selsun Blue and rinse good...being very careful not to get it into baby's eyes. He also told me to bathe him every other day instead of every day and to use a milder soap. I did some research on the internet and I heard a lot of good things about Aveeno so I think I'll try that. Good luck!
Reply:The best way to get rid of cradle cap is to take a warm (NOT hot) damp wash cloth and lay it on baby's head for about 10 min prior to bath time and then thoroughly shampoo the head GENTLY rubbing the scales with a soft bristle toothbrush for about 2 min. let the shampoo soak while you wash the rest of the baby. Then rub with toothbrush again for 2 more min and rinse. Repeat daily for about a week and it should take care of it :)
Reply:It is cradle cap. After I washed his hair, I combed the hair alot and most of it came out. Sometimes I had to sit and pick it off his head. It didn't last long though.
